Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 May 2025
1. Who We Are
The Human Radio is operated by The Postal Club. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
If you have questions, contact us at hellohumanradio@outlook.com
2. Data We Collect
Account data
When you create an account, we collect your email address and chosen pseudonym. Your email is used only for authentication and occasional platform notifications. It is never displayed publicly.
Broadcast content
Audio files you upload are stored securely on Cloudflare R2 infrastructure. Text content (titles, descriptions) is stored in our database. All broadcast content is automatically deleted when it expires.
Listening data
We record anonymous listening sessions — how long a broadcast was listened to, and a general country code derived from your IP address. We do not store IP addresses. This data helps us understand how the platform is used and is never linked to individual users.
Technical data
Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses for security and performance purposes. These are retained for a maximum of 30 days.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data only to operate the platform. Specifically:
- Your email address is used to log you in and send essential platform notifications
- Your pseudonym is displayed to other users when you broadcast
- Audio files are stored and streamed to listeners while your broadcast is live
- Anonymous listening data is used to improve the platform
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not build behavioural profiles.
4. Where Your Data is Stored
Your account data is stored in a Supabase PostgreSQL database hosted in the EU (Ireland). Audio files are stored on Cloudflare R2 infrastructure with global CDN delivery. Our application is hosted on Vercel.
All data transfers are encrypted in transit using TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure providers.
5. Data Retention
Broadcast audio files and associated metadata are deleted automatically when a broadcast expires (after 24, 48, or 72 hours as chosen by the broadcaster). Preserved broadcasts are retained until manually deleted by an administrator or the broadcaster.
Account data (email and pseudonym) is retained until you delete your account. Anonymous listening session data is retained for up to 12 months for analytics purposes, after which it is deleted.
6. Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to certain types of processing
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hellohumanradio@outlook.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
The Human Radio uses only essential cookies required for authentication (to keep you logged in). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies that identify individual users.
8. Third Party Services
We use the following third party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase — database and authentication (EU infrastructure)
- Cloudflare R2 — audio file storage and delivery
- Vercel — application hosting
- Resend — transactional email delivery
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data processing agreements in place.
9. Children
The Human Radio is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
11. Contact and Complaints
For any privacy concerns, contact us at hellohumanradio@outlook.com
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK at ico.org.uk, or with the relevant data protection authority in your country.
